A special scrapbook card

I think many would agree that making a project specifically for someone special is a blessing in itself. I had to make a large card that could hold a number of signatures and well-wishes so this is an A4 card with 3 panels:

Outside
(Die-cut letters, flowers, leaves (all Spellbinders) and some florish. Papers all from Prima)
Open the outside cover and this is inside.
This opens to reveal the full 3-page spread for signatures and messages

It must go in an envelope! This is HUGE and I used the large floral stamp from Unity KOM June 2013 to stamp around the edge.

I hope everyone is doing well and getting ready for Christmas. May it be a blessed time with family and friends.

My Favorite Unity Blog Hop

Welcome to my page for the My Favorite Unity Blog Hop!! You should have come here from Kim's page.  If you want to start at the beginning, hop over to Unity's blog homepage so you don't miss anything!

I chose Strength & Dignity (KOM November 2013) for it's inspirational quotes and images.

I want to dedicate this card to everyone who is struggling at the moment. Know that we are stronger than we think.

I stamped the silhouette image on the same wood-grain paper as the layering DP. I cut it out and popped it up with foam tape. The sentiment was first inked in the middle with Wild Honey (all Tim Holtz distress inks), then the top with Peeled Paint and the bottom with Barn Door. Overlapping the colours doesn't matter, as long as you start with the lighter colour first.

I'm so glad I could take part in this Hop. Things have been difficult on the home front but we can only look forward and Upward.

Remember to leave a comment and Unity will pick 2 random winners from the Hop blogs to win a Unity Grab Bag of 25 stamps.

Your next stop on the Hop is Gaylynn.

GIU Day 4

For my 4th Day as the Growing In Unity girl I picked one of my favorite Unity sets, Birthday Chic.   AND my sister who left last night started her birthday high up in the sky on an airplane!  Yes, today is her birthday!! Happy birthday, Berna!

I did some paper piecing & added a little bling. Unity stamps are so great, they do a lot of the work themselves!

Reminder: 2 lucky persons who comment on my GIU posts this week will win 25 random stamps from Unity!!

Hope everyone is well!

UNITY GIU Day 3

Today is bitter-sweet for our family.  My younger sister is moving to Canada!! After a year's planning the day has finally arrived. (I'm from South Africa for those who don't know.)  So this is a BIG deal.  I'm so grateful for technology that shrunk the world that she'll always be a call or message away.

On to my Day 3 card for Unity's Growing In Unity!!

Let's take it easy today and wiggle our toes:

I stamped the sentiment and a black print of the flip flop image onto white cardstock. I then stamped three versions of the flip flops in different colours and cut them all out. They are popped up with foam tape onto the bottom print.
I've been waiting for the right time to use this pretty ribbon and the colours went together perfectly. Reminds me of sea breeze & waves.....

Reminder: 2 lucky persons who comment on my GIU posts this week will win 25 random stamps from Unity!!

Hugs to all

This is so straight-forward it needs no explaining!  Just used my beloved Glossy Accents all over the glass jar and a few red liquid pearls.

TIP:  Use a positioning tool, like the Stamp-a-ma-jig, to get the placement of the {sweet} contents perfect.

Stamp set used: http://www.unitystampco.com/shop/jar-full-of-sweetness/

REMEMBER:  That I will pick 2 random winners from the comments this week to win 25 random stamps from Unity!!

Unity GIU Girl Day 1

I know I haven't been on for a long time (but with good reason). But it was really helpful to be Unity's Growing In Unity girl because I got some art therapy in the process!!

So for a challenge to myself, I made a one-layer card with masking!

Unity Stamps Used:

Sentiment:  Basically Said
Round drawn circle:  Kit of the Month - July 2013
Leaves:  Kit of the Month - September 2013

I hope everyone is well and I'll be back again tomorrow!

Journal page: This too shall pass

When things get tough, I always remember my Dad's favorite quote:

I made my first journal page to publish and I am happy how it turned out.
All papers from Prima Marketing "Time Travelers" (A4 pack).
Alphabet letters from Spellbinders

[Ecc 3:1-8 NKJV] 1 To everything [there is] a season, A time for every purpose under heaven: 2 A time to be born, And a time to die; A time to plant, And a time to pluck [what is] planted; 3 A time to kill, And a time to heal; A time to break down, And a time to build up; 4 A time to weep, And a time to laugh; A time to mourn, And a time to dance; 5 A time to cast away stones, And a time to gather stones; A time to embrace, And a time to refrain from embracing; 6 A time to gain, And a time to lose; A time to keep, And a time to throw away; 7 A time to tear, And a time to sew; A time to keep silence, And a time to speak; 8 A time to love, And a time to hate; A time of war, And a time of peace.

Maybe this will also be an encouragement to someone out there.

DS4J challenge #112 Button, Bow & Bling

It's MAY!!  Goodness me we're almost halfway through the year! I shouldn't say that out loud then it feels worse!  So let's move quickly to our new challenge at Digistamps4Joy!

BUTTONS, BOWS AND BLING

Goodness did I have a struggle! I guess that's the whole point of a CHALLENGE! As my friends know, I'm a CAS girl, so if you ask me to put a BOW anywhere on a card I'm stumped. This card was not my first try since I was not happy at all with my first one. Too clunky & akward for me!  So here's my 2nd try and I reverted BACK to my boy theme!
I used my ROCKET image in the DS4J shop with a self-made sentiment which is available here for FREE download. Remember - no sharing & selling of this :)

The Star button worked perfectly and was sort of the starting point of this whole card when I found it in my button stash!

Hope you'll join us this month with your creations!

Bugaboo Stamps are sponsoring this month and this little piggy was just so cute! I found this fence on Google Image search for colouring images and popped them both up with foam tape. I added some lips to the sentiment on the sign board :D

Join me in the last week of April at Outlawz Sunday CAS!!  Thanks to everyone at Outlawz who had me join them this month!

GDT Outlawz Sunday CAS - Week 3 Do Something Different

Week 3 in my Guest DT spot at Outlawz Sunday CAS! And it's “Do Something Different Sunday” – Use a technique or tool that you have been wanting to try but haven’t, or one that you haven’t used for awhile. Some ideas:  create your own background with paints or inks; die cuts or no die cuts; colour with pencils if you normally colour with markers . . . and the list goes on.

I've never used stuff like Gesso, gel medium etc that is used in art journaling but I've been itching to give it a try. But before I go and mess up a journal page, I thought I'd try it out on a card!
The background was created by covering cardstock with Gesso, then rubbing it with Adironrack acrylic paint dabber inks. The stamping was done on top in brown ink & Stazon black.
Stamps used:
Chicken wire background stamp & Tree: http://www.unitystampco.com/shop/happiness-limit/
Sentiment: http://www.unitystampco.com/shop/spirit-of-summertime-kom-713/

The sponsor this week at Outlawz is Bugaboo Stamps so make sure you play along!!

GDT Outlawz Sunday CAS - Week 2 - HUMOR!

Here is my second card for the Guest DT at Outlawz Sunday CAS!April is National Humor Month. Laughter is the best medicine. It's infectious, and far more contagious than any cough, sniffle or sneeze. Let's make a CAS card this week filled with humor, a joke, or something punny.
The sponsor, BUGABOO STAMPS, have loads of cheeky and funny stamps - so check them out!!
I made a pocket for the front and stuck a coffee packet in there. You can also add a sugar etc  ;D
I added some Glossy Accents on the coffee drip & the spectacles. This is so me!!

Party Time Tuesday April 2015

Here we are speeding into the year and I hope everyone is doing well!  It's a new challenge month at Party Time Tuesday and we just love partying up the crafting with you! And lo and behold I actually made .... a.... shaker card!!  My first try at this YEARS ago was enough fiddly diddly to put me off it for a long time. But I wanted to give it a try again and it wasn't so bad!

I stamped the fish & bowl from Enjoy The Sunshine (GinaK Designs) on plain card stock and then coloured and cut the fish out. Two for inside & one to pop onto the jumping one.
I then cut the circle out of the top piece of cardstock and then stamped the top part of the image to make it look like the fish is jumping out of the circle.
Some Glossy Accents on the drops and eye for dimension.
I put a "step" into the left hand side of the sentiment strip so that it fits nicely over the edge of the popped up shaker panel. The forked edge is left unglued so it provides some dimension as well.
The sentiment is also from the same set.
The background stamping is with Unity Stamp Co's Kit of the Month JULY 2014.

I managed to get another picture showing the two fish after vigorous shaking and carefully laying it down flat.

Can I just mention that I was SO HAPPY to see this set is still available! This was not only my first "proper" stamp set EVER but it was also a WIN from the generous GinaK Designs. I used this for months probably because it was SO versatile. It's one of those perfect starter sets with images for boys, girls and grownups for whatever you need.

Thanks for visiting and remember to check in on the other Party Time Tuesday Party Planners!

DS4J challenge #111 Sketch (Day 29)

I LOVE using sketches. They inspire me and give me a good starting point. So here's our new challenge at Digistamps4Joy - SKETCH!
Firstly, here's my card:

I used my FLOWER CIRCLE image in the DS4J shop.
The sentiment is from a retired set from GinaK Designs.
I'm especially happy with the designer papers. I kept the cover page of a Webster's Page paper pack and was just waiting for a project where it would come in useful. And this was it!! Here's what the cover looked like:
And here's the SKETCH you must use! I think Tonnie did a GREAT job on this one!

Please join us this beautiful APRIL month at Digistamps4Joy

30 Day Colouring Challenge _ Day 26!

I can't believe it's almost Day 30 of the Colouring Challenge! But here's a quick post for Day 26. It's a card for Daughter's swimming teacher:
I re-printed the image slightly larger and cut out two of the fish to pop up with foam tape. I added some drops of Glossy Accents as well to simulate water drops. Colouring with our pencil stash and smoothed with artist thinners.

MAWTT challenge In the WILD (Day 23)

We love 4x4'ing and off-roading although we don't nearly get enough chance to do so with our hectic lifestyle! So when I saw our challenge at Moving Along With The Times, "IN THE WILD", I just had to set my sights on the wild outdoors:
It's also the first time I'm inking up this very cool Itty Bitty, Having Fun, from Unity Stamp Co. I quickly coloured it with the broad nib of a light blue Spectrum Noir marker and just went around the outline as well with a tan one.
The trees in the background was done with some generational stamping using GinaK Designs. I didn't find the stamp set in the shop so sadly I'm thinking it was discontinued :(

In the Wild can be country, weather, animal or whatever this means to you!
We hope the challenge calls you to join in !

This is also Day 23 of the 30-day Colouring challenge!!

30 Day Colouring Day 22

In the home stretch!!!

Remember these that look like this are just coloured images that will be made into cards in future. I struggle to photograph them clearly because of the nearness of the phone camera to the paper I think...

So here's DAY 22!!!!  Anyone for a spot of tea?

Image;  http://www.mosdigitalpencil.com/three-for-tea-set/  (I did all the different stamps in this set separately for the challenge)

All occasions Sunflower

Here's a quick card I made to fit some challenges (listed below):
Flower stamp: GinaK Designs  "A Year of Flowers" - I just shaded it with a finger dauber and distress inks. The top flower was popped up with foam tape on top of a plain image (fussy cut).
Leaves die-cut: Spellbinders - Also shaded with distress inks

I made a card for the following challenges:
Addicted to CAS

CASology

Freshly Made Sketches

Sliding it in right at the end!!

This will also be my Day 21 card for the 30-day Colouring Challenge!

Take care everyone!

Viva La Verve sketch 1

Here's a card using Viva la Verve's sketch for March week 1:

I used GinaK Designs "A Year of Flowers" for the rose and the sentiment from "Whimsical Wishes"
Colouring was done with pencils & then shaded with artist thinners. It was a bit bright to match the papers so I shaded over it with Antique Linen distress ink. (This was my colouring for Day 11).

I would also like to make this my 3rd entry into the World Wide Open DT challenge:

Take care all!

Snowboard Santa

I was looking for a cool image for a teenager and found this gem at Mo's Digital Pencil:  http://www.mosdigitalpencil.com/snowboard-sant...
