Gift tag & bag

They're having a Secret Santa gift giving at hubby's work today and it came upon me, of course, to put everything together. He did find out that the recipient (whom he doesn't know at all!!) likes cooking and that was a lot of fun for me to pick and choose.  Here's the tag and bag I made:

Front of tag
Back of tag

Stamped gift bag - with cool gift!!

I hope she'll like it!!

I used Unity Stamp Co's October 2013 Kit of the month.

DS4J release Zentangle Nr 1

I love doodling and used to go through pages of paper at University and that's why I really enjoy the concept of "zentangle". You just go where your mind takes you.  Here's the first of a series in zentangle numbers available at the DS4J shop:
After colouring I covered the number with Glossy Accents for some texture and shine.
I used the 2nd November layout from Viva la Verve Sketches (LOVE their sketches!):
Have a blessed day!

DS4J release Birthday Banner

I love the idea of all the banners & bunting I'm always seeing on cards and finally I decided to draw a Happy Birthday banner that can be used as a "scene" item or sentiment!
I paired it with the gorgeous Daylily also from DS4J.
Remember all the new images will be available from today in the DS4J shop.

Here's a SHORTCUT to all my images.

Layout from Freshly Made Sketches #163

I rotated it and then kept the layout in the length.

Here's to a blessed week.

Christmas Giraffe

Hi everyone

On the home front I am sitting with a little girl with a broken leg and that has been a bit like having a new baby in the house. Poor angel is very brave but very dependent again on Mom!

I did have some time to make a card for my fellow DS4J DT member, SARA who is also over at the Naughty or Nice Challenge blog. Their challenge? Holiday Animals.
Margy (owner at DS4J) created this very cute "Giraffe with Christmas lights" and it immediately popped to mind when I saw the challenge.
Fonts used for sentiment:
African
Angelic War
I used the layout from Happy Little Stampers (NOV) again:
Have a GREAT day everyone!

DS4J release STAGE

And here is my third release today at Digistamps4Joy. You can either use it as a type of background as I did here or as a frame for a sentiment / image:
My sister is in Musical Theatre (teaching, producing, directing, choreography, script writing ... you name it) and this reminded me so much of her!  And then I had the perfect sentiment to go with it! (GinaK Designs Petals & Wings)

The beautiful drama lady is "Gwyneth" (Margy)

So here's to dreaming BIG!

DS4J release 20s HATS

Here's one image used from my set of 2 '20's HATS' for Digistamps4Joy:
I paper pieced the hat and lifted the front edge off with foam tape. A little Sekura stardust pen adds a faint shimmer to the lacy strips.

Fonts used:
Baroque Antique
Park Lane NF

I used the layout from Happy Little Stampers (I LOVE their CAS layouts!!)

The second image in the set is on a hat stand:

DS4J challenge 104 Preparing for the holidays or fall

Oh how I miss Autumn!  Here we have already experienced high summer temperatures and I just melt! Rather give me cool or even cold weather so I can function!  So at Digistamps4Joy we are PREPARING FOR THE HOLIDAYS OR FALL. I'll be with my Northern Hemisphere friends in spirit :D
Here's my card using some of the images in my Winter Warmers set:

The background snowflake strip was stamped with GinaK Designs "Snow One Like You"

Sentiment:

DS4J Release Hot Air Balloons

Float away in the sky on some HOT AIR BALLOONS!  I have this double-image release available today in the DS4J shop.
Sentiment: UNITY stamps "adventurous"

Layout:  http://happylittlestampers.blogspot.com/2014/11/hls-november-sketch-challenge.html

(The balloon image is a total coincidence since I submitted my image to Margy at DS4J last month already :D  - I love it when great minds think alike!)

Want to watch a related documentary on the first human flight?  Here's a NOVA documentary that we really enjoyed!

MAWTT Sparkle or Shine!

Don't you just love it when you have the perfect image or sentiment for a challenge?  I did a little happy dance when I saw our new SPARKLE / SHINE challenge for Moving Along With The Times because I immediately knew which image and sentiment I was going to use! There was no alternative!
(click to enlarge for a better view)

Image and sentiment from UNITY:  http://www.unitystampco.com/shop/kind-beautiful/
And then as luck would have it I had the perfect sketch to use from Retro Sketches:
I paper pieced the cupcake wrapper with the same sparkle embossed background DP (my last of the paper pad which was my very first 6x6 paper pad I ever bought! Prima I think).  The word "SPARKLE" and the crown was first coloured with Spectrum Noir and then I covered it with Sakura Stardust pen.

Let's sparkle as the year rushes to an end and join us at MAWTT!

You can never have enough flowers, right? So here are some tulips for you  :D

"Tulip pot" will be available from today in the DS4J shop.  I added my "Butterfly beauty" image as an embellishment.  The tulips & butterfly coloured with SPECTRUM NOIRS.
All papers from Webster's Pages "Family traditions".

I used the sketch from Freshly Made Sketches

Enjoy!

DS4J release Beach Umbrella

My new image, Beach Umbrella, is being released today and I had in mind all the other great nautical images in the DS4J shop when I drew it.  And then when I had to make something with it, I thought, how about making one HUGE merged image with some of my favourite beach and ocean images? But I couldn't fit it all onto one card!  What to do? Make a 'magnetic scene' with it!

I printed all my selected images (links below) out onto a printable magnet sheet. They are not very thick and the magnet is not very strong, but it does stick where it touches the metal backing directly. I put it on an old scrubbed baking sheet.  This is what the packaging looks like:
I just added some torn strips of kraft-core paper and glued some off-cuts of the magnet sheets to the backs. You can still slide the images in-between the layers as well.

I could easily add another dozen images to this, like Jen's swimming costume girls, or my box kite! Who knows I might add some more for fun :D

Images used:
Coconut tree from set "Aloha"
Turtle, sand castle, bucket and beach ball from "Fun in the Sun"
Beach umbrella (NEW)
Sail boat
Beach hut
Lighthouse

They were all coloured with SPECTRUM NOIR and the slightly smooth surface worked extremely well with blending and staying in the lines. (Printed with laser printer).

Check out the DS4J BLOG for more inspiration and more releases today!
