I'm hosting MAWTT: CASE the Sketch!

Here's a bit of a challenge with a twist at Moving Along with the Times and I'm HOSTING!!!

Sometime last year I found a challenge that invited everyone to share their "ugly" cards.  This card below was one of my very first cards (THREE YEARS AGO!!) and I thought it quite ugly and flat.  So here's the challenge:

Use my card below as your SKETCH!!!

You can decide where you want the sentiment (if any) as you'll see from the fabulous cards from the DT. Please head over there!!

Here's my hopefully MUCH improved card!!

The background DP is from Prima "Lady Bird collection".
The central flower was die-cut and stamped from Marianne Collectables COL1303
Sentiment: Unity Stamp Co's September 2013 kit of the month.

Please CASE my "ugly card" as a sketch and join us at Moving Along with the Times!!!

Last DT card for TTCRD

So my stint at Through The Craft Room Door has come to an end and it is with mixed feelings I'm sharing my last card as DT. But definitely not the last time I'll be on TTCRD's blog since I plan to visit with the challenges :D

This week's sponsor is PAPER SHELTER and I chose this very cute giraffe couple from the "Giraffes on Holidays" set.

My background paper was made by placing strips of washi tape and then stamping over it with a flower from Unity Stamp Co's November 2013 Kit of the month.  The sentiment is from the December 2013 Kit of the month.

Please join us with your creations at Through The Craft Room Door!!

Adios and thank you to Sandi & Colleen from TTCRD for the very hard work behind the scenes.

DS4J Challenge #88: Vintage

Here's a nice challenge at Digistamps4Joy to get your Vintage on!!!

As usual I like to show that you CAN do CAS & VINTAGE!!  I used gorgeous paper from Joy! Crafts (Vintage paper bloc) and the car from DS4J called "Dad's Austin". Margy did a drawing from a car that belonged to her late Dad!! The Spanish sentiment is from Papertrey Ink (my hubby's from Argentina).

To all vintage car fans out there I would have to apologise that I had no idea how to color this!  So if there is green paint where chrome should have been and vice versa, sorry!! ;D

Take out your vintage images, paper & embellishments (if any) and join us!!

MAWTT Challenge: Make a box & Decorate it!

I think there are few things as special as receiving a gift in a handmade box. Some nice chocolates come to mind!!   Making a box can be as easy or as tricky as you'd like but I prefer to stick to a simple square box.  Which brings me to the, by now, obvious theme for MOVING ALONG WITH THE TIMES' challenge:

MAKE A BOX AND DECORATE IT!

My box is a simple 3"x3" base with the top an 1/8" bigger to fit over:
I first cut the lid piece (5 1/8" x 5 1/8") and then scored it at 1" all around. I made sure I scored and folded it properly.  I then used 3 different prints of washi tape (it was a set of 3 co-ordinating patterns yay) and just covered the whole piece of cardstock with the tape.  Don't worry about the score lines, the cardstock will carry the tape.

After it was covered all over I folded on the score lines again and then cut the tabs from the inside. Fold the tabs and glue to create the lid!

That's just a plain cocktail doily that I stamped with a stamp from Unity Stamp Co's September 2013 Kit of the Month (a STUNNING set and a favourite).

I covered two small areas of cardstock with two of the washi tape (stripes and birdies) and then cut out a butterfly from each area. Butterfly dies from Joy! Crafts.

So think inside or outside the BOX and join us!

DS4J Challenge #87: Birthday sentiment

We would love to see all your "Happy Birthday" card at Digistamps 4 Joy!!
Image; Cupcakes Galore
Sentiment: GinaK Designs (a retired set)

I shaded the tops of the cupcakes on a 2nd printout with distress ink before cutting out and paper piecing. Some liquid pearls rounded them off.
