Rainbow Day

This interactive card lets you open the front to reveal the sentiment. It uses the Papertrey Ink die "Movers and Shakers - Sliders":

The central image and sentiment is from Unity's "Could I be any Cuter" set while the birdies and butterflies are from GinaK Designs' "Petals & Wings" set.

Twirly Cupcakes!

The Papertrey Ink "Movers & Shakes: Sliders" die comes with a straight and curvy track which makes your element slide along it. But for this card I wanted the recipient (a 5-year old) to interact with his card by making his cupcakes twirl. I cut three circles out of the card stock that was just slightly bigger than the mounting circles (from the PTI die).  (I will do a detailed how-to post on this)
This is also my first card using a new set of "Spectrum Noir" makers (the "Lights" set).
Background words and cupcakes from Unity's "Mix up of Cuteness" set.

(Disclaimer: I have no control over preview images following this clip leading back to Youtube)

Our anniversary

It's our 9th wedding anniversary today and here's the card I made for hubby:
The tree and sentiment is from Unity's "Grow in Unity" set and the corner-images were an absolute perfect match even though they are from GinaK Designs' Elegant Elements! I added Liquid Pearls again (as in a previous card using this tree) and used some Sakura Stardust pen on the corner elements.

Hey Baby!

This image from the new GinaK Designs' Petals & Wings kit is just so adorable I made two cards to welcome new babies (we're expecting a new nephew in June as well!).
The umbrellas were paper pieced and the rest colored with some simple coloring pencils. (I can't remember the background paper's manufacturer but will look it up!)

Spinning cupcake

This card was made for a 2-year old so it's got some action going on :
The cupcake spins too cute along the 'track'. The spinner die is from Papertrey Ink. The cupcake stamp for the background and focal image is Unity's Mix up of Cuteness (a truly GREAT set to have in your collection). The sentiment is from GinaK Designs "Enjoy the Sunshine".

The background paper was created by stamping and embossing the cupcake image with clear embossing powder. It was shaded with Broken China (Tim Holtz) and then with some Crushed Olive (TH) on the edges. The focal cupcake was paper pieced with some scrap paper and the cherry just colored with a Memento Marker and topped with Ranger Glossy Accents.

Dimensions and texture

This card was made with two stamps from the Unity set Could I be any Cuter. I made it for a one-year old so it has texture and dimensions on it:
The elephant was stamped with Puff embossing powder so it's got texture and then there's the buttons and grass (just cut by hand from green card stock). The clouds were also cut by hand and the edges shaded with Broken China (same as sky) from Tim Holtz Distress inks.
The tree was stamped by inking up the 'leaves' with Crushed Olive (TH) and the trunk with Memento Rich Cocoa.

Flowers from leaves (PTI)

In this week's Make It Monday video at Papertrey Ink, Dawn is showing a flower made from leaf die cuts.

I used my Spellbinders Rose Creations' leaf dies and scalloped circles to make this flower:
Background and sentiment uses stamps from PTI's Spiral Bouquet.

Blooms in shades (PTI)

If you are here for my post for the Lily Pad Birthday Blog Hop, click HERE:
In my previous post I linked to Papertrey Ink's video on Generational Stamping and I just had to try it with a floral background too:
These blooms and sentiment are from PTI's Spiral Bouquet and the inks are PTI Berry Sorbet, Spring Moss and Memento Tuxedo Black (used Memento marker for the lines)

Generational stamping (PTI)

If you are here for my post for the Lily Pad Birthday Blog Hop, click HERE:

It has a name :D - I've done this type of stamping before but now I know what it's called. "Generational" stamping (according to Papertrey Ink). See their technique video here: http://nicholeheady.typepad.com/capture_the_moment/2012/04/make-it-monday-60-generational-stamping.html
Here's my card:
I used the background stamp from the PTI 3rd anniversary Round & Round set and started off at the bottom. I used the following Tim Holtz Distress Inks (from bottom to top):

  • Pine Needles
  • Peeled Paint
  • Crushed Olive
  • Spiced Marmalade
  • Mustard Seed
The sentiment (PTI Spiral Bouquet) was stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black.
Mounted on Tim Holtz distress card stock.

Lily birthday (GKD)

If you are here for my post for the Lily Pad Birthday Blog Hop, click HERE:

I received my FIRST GinaK Designs kit called Petals & Wings yesterday. It comes with a gorgeous stamp set, plain card stock and stunning patterned papers AND brads and ribbon! What is NOT from this kit in the card below is the lavender card stock framing the DP (Tim Holtz distress card stock) and the sentiment (from Whimsical Wishes, GKD):
I colored the lilies with Colleen pencils and added Ranger Glossy Accents to the petals (I'm addicted to this stuff I think).

The green frame was stamped with Papertrey Ink's Spring Moss ink, the rest with Memento Tuxedo Black.

Wings (GKD)

If you are here for my post for the Lily Pad Birthday Blog Hop, click HERE:

Here's a quick card I made using the new GinaK designs "Petals & Wings" kit, butterfly from Believe in Yourself and a sentiment from Great Sayings.
The Petals & Wings kit comes with a frame with a circle opening. The circle that you remove from the opening can also be used to stamp with. I used the Kissing technique here (close-up below). I first inked up the circle with Desert Sand (Memento). I then inked up the background texture stamp with Rich Cocoa before kissing the circle with the texture stamp. The texture stamp is slightly narrower than the circle so I just did it twice to cover the whole circle surface.
The butterfly is actually not a side-ways butterfly (see link at the beginning of post) but is seen from on top. I stamped the butterfly twice and then cut out the right-hand side of both images. The bottom image included the feelers. I glued the body of both images down and popped up the wings with foam tape.

Happy Birthday Lily Pad Cards Blog Hop

How exciting is this! Lily Pad Cards' are also celebrating their first anniversary! And what a great honor to be part of the blog hop to celebrate. You can “like” us on Facebook, but if you do not have a Facebook account, you can also be eligible for the drawings by leaving a comment on the Lily Pad Cards blog. (but only one comment per blog, please.) You have until 12:00 p.m. EST on Sunday, April 8.

Here is my Birthday card to celebrate!

Close-up showing Liquid Pearl accents
When I saw this tree I immediately thought of my Cuttlebug D'Vine Swirls embossing folder. They pair very nicely together. I embossed my card stock before shading it with distress ink.
Stamps used:
Tree image: Unity Stamps' Growing in Unity
Sentiment: Unity Stamps' Best Wishes & Blooms
Inks:
Papertrey Ink: Spring Moss
Memento Tuxedo Black
Tim Holtz Peeled Paint

And I got into the swing of things so I made another one:

I used the Could I be any Cuter stamp set from UNITY stamps. The bird was paper pieced with little bits of paper scraps and covered with Stickles. I popped the ends of the wings up with some foam tape for dimension and the notes were covered with some Ranger Glossy Accents (I learned about this on Lily Pad Cards!). The twine is from The Twinery (Cappuchino).

I have also decided to extend my own birthday celebration with Lily Pad so my blog candy draw will also continue until Sunday, April 8! You can win a $10 GinaK Designs voucher.
Thank you so much for joining us! The next stop on the hop is Mary Dawn. (If you hit a bad link, you can always go back to Lily Pad to view the Master list of blog links. Please report any bad links to aris@inlinkz.com)
