d'VINE Christmas

I don't have Christmas stamps in my small collection so I had to improvise. These ideas usually come to me when I'm struggling to fall asleep. And then instead of trying to sleep I have to get up and execute!
The tree was created by stamping with the long vine stamp from GinaK Designs' "The Vine" (see link "Stamps I use" on the left hand menu for links). I then used the smallest and medium single vine leaves to stamp seperately. I shaded the 'tree' and individual leaves with Tim Holtz Pine Needles (same ink stamped with).
The trunk was created by taking a piece of brown Tim Holtz Distress cardstock and scoring it at 1/8" intervals. It was then 'sanded' with a nail file (emery board).
The individual leaves were then cut out and adhered with 3D foam to the tree.
The decorations I got from raiding my old beading boxes. The 'looped stars' I sewed to the tree by making a small hole with a piercer and then using silver thread and needle, looping the embellishment onto the car. The small red beads were just glued on by dropping them onto a small glob of liquid glue (Tombow).
Close-up:

The sentiment is from GinaK Designs "Fanciful Tags".

I'm so glad I can finally take part in a Lily Pad challenge! You MUST check out their website. They have fantastic How-to Videos that are truly inspirational.
Butterfly from GinaK Designs "Enjoy the Sunshine" and sentiment from "Whimsical Wishes".

I first sketched with a pink chalk pencil over the white cardstock before I rubbed it with my finger. I then stamped the butterfly in Memento Tuxedo Black. The open spaces were filled with Stardust Stickles. I just discovered these and have to contain myself before I put it on EVERY card I make!

This card is also entered in the Stamptv October 2011 Release Challenge "PINK".

Ocean Swirl

This card was made for a magazine submission but not chosen so I can place it here now! It took some planning on the panels and here is what to do....
Cut 3 pieces of cardstock EXACTLY the same size. Place each one in the Cuttlebug Embossing Folder (I used D'vine Swirl) and emboss each one. I trimmed the un-embossed edges off at exactly the same place for each piece. Take the length you want your panel to be and divide by 5 as an example of how wide each panel should be. I have a Tonic guillotine so I was able to place all three pieces of cardstock on top of each other to cut through.

Very Important: Make sure that your pieces are all facing the same way. D'vine Swirl is not repetative but unique so make sure that each piece's "left" side is on the next one's "left" side.

Now take a panel from each color started on the left had side. Mark them on the back (1-2-3-4-5). Make sure each piece's swirl aligns correctly to the next piece. You are building a puzzle.

Glue each piece to a thin piece of white cardstock. Trim any edges that are necessary.

For the boat:
I took two pieces of un-embossed cardstock (same panel width) that matches the cardstock behind it and glued them together on a thin piece of plain cardstock. Stamp the boat from GinaK Designs' "Enjoy the Sunshine" (see my "Stamps as I use" page for links) over it. Cut the boat out by hand. Stamp again on patterned paper and cut out sails to paper piece the boat.

Adhere with pop-dots (3D dots) to the panel behind it.

Glue the completed panel to white card base.

Update

I haven't quite fallen off the face of the earth. Just been almost a month off the face of the Web! Everything is back up and running but I haven't been able to update much here. I've been making a HUGE amount of cards for an entrepreneurs table (Christmas, Thank you's and School Well Done's) for fellow Homeschoolers. Once everything is done, I'll update them here!
